🤫 How to Manipulate AI Search

This week I sat down with SEO expert Kasra Dash to discuss his results from an AI search experiment he ran.

He published 50 self-referencing listicles, comparison pages, and alternative pages on his website to see which LLMs would cite him.

Here's what happened - Every LLM got manipulated.

Grok and Perplexity were easiest since they run live searches on almost every query.

ChatGPT and Claude were harder because they lean on cached data that refreshes three or four times a year.

Google AI Overviews was toughest. The wild part, even after he deleted all 50 pages, ChatGPT, Claude, and Google still kept citing them.

What Actually Moved the Needle:

• Self-referencing listicles ranking your brand inside best-of posts
• Comparison pages versus known competitors in your industry
• Alternative pages targeting people canceling competitor's tools

But here's the catch - None of this works without SEO fundamentals that most people want to skip:

• Making sure you're indexed in Google/Bing/Yandex
• Optimizing all of your H1s-H3s and using proper hierarchy
• Ensuring your permalink structure is SEO optimized and not a mess
• Ensuring your internal links make sense and are using proper anchor text
• Creating high-quality content that isn't mass generated AI slop

🛑 Why Vibe Coded Sites Tank Your SEO

The second half of my chat with Kasra was a gut punch for anyone building a business on Lovable, Replit, Bolt, or Base44.

These vibe-coded sites look stunning. They also tank your SEO.

JavaScript bloat, and almost no readable HTML for Google or any LLM to crawl.

Kasra analyzed around 6,500 Lovable sites and very few ranked, even the ones with backlinks and content.

You Should Use Vibe Coded Sites For:

• Landing pages for paid ads
• MVPs, demos, and internal tools
• Anything where the URL dies in 60 days

You Shouldn't Use Vibe Coded Sites For:

• Your main website
• Your blog or content hub
• Anything you actually want to rank
