They're great for chat-based use and tasks inside ChatGPT, but that's where it ends. ChatGPT Assistants, on the other hand, are built inside OpenAI's API platform and can be used in automations across tools like Make, Zapier, n8n, and more. Thatβs the game-changer. If you're serious about building scalable AI systems that save time, Assistants are the better choice. π€ How to Create ChatGPT Assistants In a recent video I show you step-by-step how to build ChatGPT assistants and connect it to tools like Make, Gmail, and LinkedIn. Hereβs a quick written breakdown of how to build these: Step 1 - Create Free OpenAI API Account Go to platform.openai.com and sign up. This is the same account used for ChatGPT, but you'll be working inside the API platform dashboard. Step 2 - Add Funds to Your OpenAI API Account Start with $5β10 in API credits. Youβll only get charged when the assistant is used in an automation β itβs pay-as-you-go and super cheap for testing. Step 3 - Click the Assistants Tab From your OpenAI dashboard, click βAssistantsβ in the left-hand menu. Then hit Create. Youβll see a blank template where you can build your assistant from scratch. Step 4 - Name Your Assistant & Complete System Instructions Give it a clear name like βLinkedIn Writerβ or whatever your task is. You can use your existing Custom GPT instructions or ask ChatGPT to help write custom instructions based on your goals β this is the brain of your assistant. Step 5 - Choose a Model & Upload Reference Files Stick with GPT-4o for quality results that will be inexpensive. Upload PDFs like your resume, writing samples, or brand voice docs β these help the assistant learn your tone and style. Step 6 - Integrate ChatGPT Assistant Inside Make Use the βMessage with Assistantβ module inside Make.com. Once itβs set up, you can generate posts, replies, summaries, or drafts automatically on a schedule. π― My Final Takeaway ChatGPT Assistants are underrated tools for marketers, creators, and business owners...
